Welcome to Vrachos, a traditional resort in the heart of Odria

About Vrachos
Vrachos

Nestled at the foothills of Mount Ondria, in the eponymous village of Vrachos, on the most central plot in the village square, stand the three apartments that form part of a building constructed in 1925.
These are newly built residences, designed to blend in with the simple and unadorned architecture of the village, with few, understated interventions that do not contradict the overall aesthetic of the landscape and perfectly complement the natural environment. They represent a small treasure for the area that will leave no one unmoved.
They offer breathtaking views towards Mount Ondria, while towards the northern side of Kastoria, they overlook Mount Vitsi, and with clear atmospheric conditions, to the east, Mount Siniatsiko of Kozani.
The incredible view from every point of the residences steals your heart. The rejuvenating tranquility and seclusion in an exceptional natural environment offer a luxurious escape from everyday life, a unique experience for you and your family or friends.
The apartments are fully equipped and decorated with care and attention to detail, offering a comfortable and unforgettable stay. The lighting is simple, emphasizing the stone element, thus adding extra warmth to the space.
They are ideal for family vacations as well as for small or large groups. The building includes three apartments. Each one has two rooms, a bathroom, and a fully equipped kitchen. The building also features a common area on the ground floor, with another fully equipped kitchen to cater to the needs of the guests.
The village is literally nestled within an oak and beech forest. Around the village and throughout the year, there are many opportunities for hiking, cycling, and even climbing, of varying difficulty levels (easy, moderate, and challenging). With the help of experienced certified mountain guides, your experience can become more adventurous and memorable, provided that arrangements are made in advance. The small lake of the Vrachos dam is ideal for swimming or canoeing.
After a wonderful day, in the common area, decorated with stone and wood – materials that create an atmosphere of warmth and comfort – you can have a drink by the fireplace or enjoy the exceptional view and the absolute tranquility of the outdoor surroundings.

HISTORY

HISTORY OF THE BUILDING

The building was rebuilt in 1925 by Georgios Adamopoulos in order to house his family, his wife Vasiliki and his four children, Lefkothea, Chrysanthi, Andreas and Alexandra.

Georgios Adamopoulos emigrated to America, to Manchester, in 1911. He arrived at Ellis Island as a furrier, (according to Ellis Island records), but initially worked as a lumberjack according to his accounts. He returned to Greece in 1923. During his time in America, he sent remittances to his family, parents and siblings. A reminder of his journey is the trunk of his return luggage, located in DIVISION 1.

The house was abandoned by the family probably in 1962 and was rebuilt in 1977 by Andrew Adamopoulos. It was used continuously until 2020 when it was reconstructed for conversion to cottages.
